Unless there is a hamburger in a bag in the front seat, my dog stays peacefully snoozing, comfortably and happily in his hammock. A motivated dog can jump over the top if it’s not pulled completely taut, but the hammock is more spacious and private than the front seat, so I think the nesting instinct kicks in and they stay put. It’s also good for roadtrip food and water breaks, they can eat right in place without making a mess. Add a favorite blanket in a corner and they will be happy as a clam. Material seems tough enough for my wild dog who likes to claw things, but time will tell how long lived it will be (especially the reinforcement seams on the installation handles. They look like they may be a weak spot.) The cup shape of the thing keeps them from falling into the floor or between seats, as well, and the velcro holes will allow use of a pet seatbelt harness, if necessary. Added bonus: snacks and coolers can be hidden behind the driver seat under the front of the hammock, where pets can’t get to them.
Only complaint would be for older vehicles that may not have headrests in the back seat (like a fold down bench seat in a station wagon), you need two sets of headrests to install it.

I purchased this seat cover in preparation for a road trip with my 60lb setter who recently underwent leg amputation surgery. I wanted a hammock style so she would be more secure when we traveled. It has been great–when braking abruptly or turning, I don’t have to worry about her losing balance and falling off the seat. Especially for the price, I would defintely recommend.
I did notice a slight odor initially, but aired it on my deck prior to using, so it wasn’t problematic. Mine had an odor similar to anything with a plastic/rubber backing.

The reviews I read were right on. The product works perfectly. Easy to use. Quick setup and take down. However there is a strong odor. So I left it outside on my covered porch for a few weeks, and now it’s fine. I would have given it a 5 star if it wasn’t smelly.

I bought this product to prevent my dog from falling on the floor when we have to break hard or take sharp corners, or any sudden movements that he couldn’t predict. It does the job. It installs really easily. My only complaint is that it is kind of stiff material and not very soft to lay on, so we have to lay down a blanket.
